Update on Grand View Cemetery

The remodeling is still going on and the cemetery will be opened on Sunday before Memorial Day and Monday Memorial Day from 12 - 4pm.

Equipment truck in front of the chapel.

They had plan on digging out the grass and reseeding but the winter rains made it impossiable to do so they dugged the trenches as they went.

The trees were all trimed and some were removed and the ones that had been cut down before and a stump left, they grounded those down.

Another shot of the cemetery grounds.

Looking from Section M.

A hawk visited the cemetery and I was able to get this one shot before he flew away.

The trees trimed and all the shrubbry cleared and removed along the wall in Section A.

Station Fire From Grand View Cemtery

Sunday I volunteered at Grand View Cemetery in Glendale, California. It was 100 degrees and a warm breeze with smoke from the Station Fire. Here two volunteers Lisa Burks and Susan try and stay cool. Lisa is the one fanning herself.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 GRAND VIEW CEMETERY

Well, what a diffrence a week makes as Christmas Day I was freezing in the rain volunteering at Grand View and yesterday New Years Day it was sunny and shorts and tee shirt weather and today cloudy, overcast and foggy. While everyone was enjoying the Rose Parade and football game, I was at Grand View Cemetery in Glendale triming bushes and doing grave looksups for people. I was also interviewed by the Glendale News Press http//www.glendalenewspress.com/articles/2009/01/02/news/gnp-grandview02.txt. Anyhow hope everyone had a great New Year's and that 2009 is a better year for everyone.

Christmas Day at Grand View Cemetery

Yours truly spent Christmas Day at Grand View Cemetery as a volunteer as the troubled cemetery had a limited visitation from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Despite the rain and cold temperatures we had a lot of people show up which made it worthwhile. It was the first time in 3 years that the troubled cemetery was opened on Christmas Day. There were three volunteers who gave up their Christmas so that families who had loved ones buried at Grand View could visit their loved one graves for Christmas.
