BHS Looper's Get Together Dec 29th

"Merry Christmas", Loopers...

Just wanted to stop by for a quick second to tell all of you who live in and around "Loopland" that on Wednesday, December 29, 2010...there will be a BHS Alumni/Looper get-together at the Burbank Elks (2232 N. Hollywood Way) at 3PM...This will be a very informal gathering in the bar area of the Elks and was put together by Mike Feix '65, Mickey DePalo '64 and Freddy Ortega '65...All are welcome...

Hope lots of you stop by for a bit of "holiday fun" inbetween Christmas and New Year's...

Dr. Robert Bruner, 1914-2010

For those BHS Alumni who went to Luther Burbank Junior High Dr. Brunner who was principal for many years passed away.

BRUNNER, Dr. Robert T. Sept. 19, 1914-Dec. 11, 2010

Dr. Robert (Bob) Brunner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away in his sleep last Saturday morning. He and his wife, Mary have been Burbank residents since 1942.

Robert was born in St. Louis, MO, but moved to Los Angeles at the age of one. He graduated from L.A. High School, and U.C.L.A. where he was a member of Delta Chi. He achieved his Ed.D from U.S.C. He was a school administrator in Burbank for 33 years and retired as the principal of Luther Burbank Junior High School. He was active in statewide and southern section activities of the National Elementary Principals Association and the Secondary High School Administrators Association, serving as Chairman for a term.

Robert and Mary, "Always tried to be involved in organizations of a charitable or community betterment nature." He was very active in Burbank. He served the Y.M.C.A. beginning in 1948 for many years, including three years as president. He joined the Burbank Rotary in 1949, had 32 years of perfect attendance, served as President, and remained involved, especially, in the Burbank Rotary Foundation. After retirement he was involved with and served on the board of the Friends of the Library.

Robert (Bob to many) is survived by his wife, Mary, of 71 years, a son (Larry and wife Linda), three grandsons and five great-grandchildren; and a daughter (Kathy and husband Doug Adair) four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services for Robert will be Thursday, December 16th at 3:00pm at Church of the Hills in Forest Lawns Hollywood Hills. The family welcomes friends to come by the home of Robert and Mary following the service, at 5:00pm.

Burbank/Burroughs Classes of 76 35th Reunion

The combined Burbank and Burroughs from the Classes of 1976 is having a35 year reunion on June 25, 2011 at the Luau Grounds in Burbank at the Castaways from 6:00 pm to 11:00pm. $75.00 per person until May 1st and $85.00 per person after May 1st.

Grand View Cemetery Update


Construction and Landscaping To Begin at Grand View Memorial Park

Notice of Temporary Closure of Grand View Memorial Park for Construction and Landscaping

Last Public visitation will be December 5, 2010 (12-4pm)

The cemetery will be closed for public visitation for approximately four months, depending on weather and any other unforeseeable conditions, after Sunday, December 5, 2010.

All personal items placed at or around grave sites by family members should be removed by family members, including incense containers, flower vases, etc. All items left at grave sites will be removed during construction and will not be returned.

Grand View will not be responsible for any personal items left at grave sites after December 5, 2010.

Music legacy honored at winery

The musical legacy of late Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads is the focus of a celebration this weekend at D'Argenzio Winery.

Proprietor Kathy Rhoads D'Argenzio will honor what would have been the musician's 54th birthday by providing free food, wine tastings and a display of items related to Rhoads' career from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the D'Argenzio Tasting Room, 1204 W. Burbank Blvd.
